Francesca Mazzagatti

Francesca Mazzagatti is an artist from Calabria with Arbëreshë origins. She was born in Cosenza in 1997 and, after training in graphic design, she devoted herself entirely to the fine arts, favoring oil painting as well as dry and digital techniques. She has participated in several group exhibitions and collaborated with individuals and associations on cultural and artistic projects. She is currently part of the teaching team at the Officina Visuale Orizzontale free art school, where she teaches painting courses for adults and children.
She mainly uses the technique of oil painting on canvas, rich in figurative references, which allows the artist to express herself in the most congenial way to have an immediate impact on the viewer and create direct and immediate communication.
Recently, he has been focusing on the complex relationship between humans and everyday life: using figures that develop on the threshold of the surreal, he tells stories that aim to reveal the subtle and unexpected connections between people and the worlds – material and otherwise – that surround them.
His research questions the concept of beauty, emptying it of its most common meaning to fill it with something else, or not to fill it at all. Reality is often not represented faithfully because it is a means of exploring beyond the visible, to the limits of the unconscious and the unknowable.
