Lino Fiorito

Painter, theater and film set designer. Since the early 1980s, he has developed a cross-disciplinary practice of expressive media related to vision. His collaboration with theater began with Falso Movimento and continued with Teatri Uniti. Among the shows he contributed to: Tango Glaciale (1982), Ritorno ad Alphaville (1986), Zingari (1993), Pinocchio (2002), Tradimenti (2009), Pali (2009), Giù (2012), Giorni felici (2013), Le voci di dentro (2013), Amore (2015), Calderón (2016), 6 and La resa dei conti (2018). Also worth mentioning is the 2009 edition of The Magic Flute, produced with L’Orchestra di Piazza Vittorio.

In his film collaborations, his painterly intervention is realized through a focus on locations, which become opportunities for the screenplay before serving as the scenic setting. L.F. worked with Paolo Sorrentino on L’uomo in più (2001), Le conseguenze dell’amore (2004), L’amico di famiglia (2005), and Il divo (2008). He also designed the sets for Tonino De Bernardi’s Appassionate (1999), Antonio Capuano’s La guerra di Mario (2005), Stefano Incerti’s Gorbaciof (2010), and Vincenzo Pirrotta’s Spaccaossa (2022).

Lino Fiorito has always viewed his work as that of an artist/painter, and over time, he has turned the fluid movement between different languages – from visual arts to cinema to theater – into a unique presence in the Italian landscape.
