“dialogue .1” is the first exhibition proposed by 480 Site Specific outside its home gallery spaces, included in a special project of Art Days – Napoli Campania, “La foresta di fili”, in Naples at La Santissima Community Hub – Ex Ospedale Militare from 21 to 27 October 2024.

“dialogue .1” is precisely a dialogue between the works of Luigi Battisti and Giorgio Milano, protagonists of the first two 480 Site Specific exhibitions: “Motivi” by Luigi Battisti on 18 December 2022 and “PetraFicta” by Giorgio Milano on 5 May 2023.

Luigi Battisti presents a new cycle of works, “Pitture”, all produced in 2024, a composition of pictorial modules, all measuring 50×50 cm, each with a different chromatic background on which the artist has applied intermittent spatulas of different colours.

These are new pictorial scores that highlight the artist’s strong link with contemporary music. His work is in fact a continuous evolution, where harmony is dictated by the rhythm of aesthetic synthesis, just like in an ideal score.

“In music, tonality, or the tonal centre of a composition, is akin to the painter’s pictorial plane. It determines the degree of audibility (visibility), as well as timbre (colour)’. These are considerations expressed by Morton Feldman, an American composer who inspired the artist, who frequently accompanied his compositional activity with a series of reflections, often dedicated precisely to the link between music and painting.

Giorgio Milano presents paintings in which he overturns the usual artistic attitude of representing a single idea. Each of his works contains a story, a multiplicity of literary, poetic, scientific, philosophical, historical and mythological interweavings. It hints at the depth of an older, even 20th century thought, at the basis of which, in addition to inspiration, there is always careful, intense, never banal reasoning.

This speculative attitude is totally reflected on the aesthetic level, where the extraordinary novelty of the pictorial strokes, colours and structural textures unfolds in an extremely scrupulous technical work, executed with fascinating maniacality.

We are faced with a transversal temporal coincidence, where the profound sense of thought is combined in a highly innovative formal paradigm, permeated by hidden, secret and precious signs to be guarded and handed down.
